MOUNT KENYA.

The Mount Kenya forest reserve is situated 21/2 hours drive from Nairobi. Sitting astride the equator its icy summit reaches to 5199m.

The Mountain consists of three principal zones, the rocky peak area, actually eroded volcanic plug. The alpine zone with its distinctive vegetation and slopes drenched in Mountain Forest and Bamboo Jungle.

Wildlife below the forest boundary includes Elephant, Buffalo, Lion and several species of Antelope. Much of Game can be seen from the safety of Mountain Lodge which lies just inside the forest on the south side of the mountain.
