This is a spectacular park. It covers an area of 330sq.kms of which about 230sq.kms is the lake itself, the rest is ground water forest, acacia woodland and open grassland around the shore.

You can easily find Hippos at River Simba, Elephants in the forest and Cape Buffalos in the open plain at Mahali Pa Nyati, which means in Swahili “The place of Buffalos”. There are about 350 different bird species in this park. Tree climbing Lions can also be spotted.
